We routinely conduct the internal or external audit on the environment in order to evaluate our environmental obedience as well as its management system and practice. Employees throughout the organization are directly responsible to maintain he environment and develop the work plan based on the audit results.

Our environmental program follows the requirements at the Environmental management Plan (RKL) and Environmental Monitoring Plan (RPL), which we annually deliver to the government in accordance with the requirements in the Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL), in addition to the obligation according to the related regulations and licenses issued by the government.

We have reported our environmental performance in 2008 toward the G3 indicators of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). We made the adjustment on several indicators of 2007, which have been reported in accordance with the GRI guidelines, in order to compare the indicators on the same basis. We have also developed a process to identify significant risks and opportunities as part of our transition in 2008/2009 to implement the Sustainable Development Framework of ICMM. In the beginning of 2009, our parent company, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., determined the performance targets and objectives, which will be the reference of our report in the following year.
